The 1-piece mahogany body is loaded with a custom dog ear P-90 for a ripping tone that excels under high gain. You also get a solid mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard, Plek'd frets, and the old-school nut width. To top it all off, the entire guitar went through the Murphy Labs Ultra Light Aging process for the look and feel of a genuine closet classic.
Under the leadership of Master Artisan Tom Murphy, Gibson Custom Shop's Murphy Lab performs one specific function: to craft artfully aged instruments using the most cutting-edge tools available. These guitars are targeted to one of four distinct levels of age and wear, ranging from Ultra-Light to Ultra-Heavy. This Les Paul Junior features Ultra-Light aging, boasting unique lacquer checking with minimal playing wear. It's as if the guitar spent most of its life in its case. VOS patina hardware puts the final touch on this exquisite instrument. Beyond that, this guitar's extra-rolled fingerboard binding mimics the broken-in look and feel of a Golden-era Gibson.
Gibson Custom's detail-oriented construction and unwavering dedication to tradition materialize everywhere on this 1957 Les Paul Junior Single Cut Reissue. It was made completely according to old-school specs, including the 1-piece mahogany slab body for enhanced resonance. Gibson purists will appreciate the solid mahogany neck and chunky "C"-shaped profile that perfectly fills the hand. A single dog ear P-90 sits in the bridge position, alongside a wraparound bridge/tailpiece, volume, and tone controls. It's all held together with hide glue, too, making it a true Gibson. Rest assured, every component on the guitar has been carefully selected to bring this axe as close as possible to its vintage brethren.
The 1957 Les Paul Junior Single Cut Reissue doesn't just have the look of a classic. It also plays and feels like one. The comfortable neck carve feels chunky and wide — when you wrap your hand around it for the first time, you'll lose yourself in the feeling that enticed thousands of players in the golden era. The neck is complete with a 1.6875-inch nut width. Like all Gibson guitars, this instrument was Plek'd before leaving the factory to ensure smooth, flawless playability.
